LOEWE FOUNDATION Celebrates Japanese Craftsmanship

Poetry, photography, dance, and crafts. LOEWE cherishes the culture woven by such human activities. Enrique Loewe, the fourth generation of the founding family , established the LOEWE FOUNDATION in 1988. Now, the private cultural foundation, which has been passed down to his daughter Sheila, will begin providing ongoing support to the Onishi Seiemon family, a Kyoto potter with a history of over 400 years since the late Muromachi period, in 2023 with the aim of nurturing the next generation and passing on the art of tea ceremony pots. As part of this, a special exhibition was held at the Asama International Photo Festival 2024 PHOTO MIYOTA until September 16th . The tea ceremony is deeply connected to the Japanese people. However, because of its everyday nature, it is a rare opportunity to fully enjoy the richness that is often overlooked.
